Shelly has been with UTMB for 20 years and has been part of UTMB's HIPAA program from the inception. Originally, Shelly was in the Information Services department when she was asked to manage UTMB's HIPAA compliance initiative. In 2005, Shelly left the Information Services department and accepted a position with UTMB's Office of Institutional Compliance. In 2010, Shelly was promoted to Director of Compliance Programs, and Privacy Officer. As UTMB's Privacy Officer, Shelly is responsible for UTMB's compliance efforts for both HIPAA and FERPA.

Shelly is a proud graduate of Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas and has a BA degree in economics.
